Girlatones' debut LP “Fitting In Well” is a collection of songs tied together through themes of personal development and finding oneself through creativity.
Whilst taking cues from classic pop songwriting, sonically the album is contrasted by bandleader Jesse’s DIY production ethic.

Armed with little more than a 4-track cassette recorder, the initial tracking was done in the living room of Leah’s family home in Woodford, Victoria. Additional recording was done in various bungalows and other non-studio spaces in the suburbs of Melbourne. The album was completed when the cassette tapes were taken to Colin Leadbetter (Katie Noonan, Whitley, The Outdoor Type) to be tweaked and mastered.
The band kept the arrangements and instrumentation simple, leaving space for the songs to speak. Striving for honesty over musical perfection, many ‘mistakes’ and odd moments can be heard on the album.
The result is a piece of work that is rich in character.
